Mission

• Formulate and update IBRO's guidelines for the ethical use of animals in bio-medical experimentation.
  
  
• Liaise with other national and international committees in establishing agreed national and international guidelines for animal experimentation.
  
  
• Develop and maintain a database containing relevant information.
  
  
• Formulate information on the legitimate and ethical use of animals in research.
  
  
• Collaborate with other interested parties in elaborating policy in the area of animal experimentation and welfare through governmental agencies and international organizations.
  
  
• Help organize sessions at IBRO and other neuroscience meetings to discuss the ethical and practical issues surrounding animal experimentation.

Representatives from IBRO's Regional Committees and the Affiliated organizations would be expected to co-ordinate activities in their areas and societies.
