Mission:
The mandate of the ad hoc Committee on Memberships and Partnerships will be to:
1) Review the Statutes and By-Law Articles that apply to membership within IBRO with a view to providing a set of guidelines that clarify how best to deal with new member organizations and enhancing collaborations with those who are already part of IBRO. Most of what is pertinent is presently coded in Article III of the Statutes and in Articles IV through VIII of the By-Laws (see Statutes and By-Laws).
2) Examine the present set of membership charges (fees) to ascertain that these are fair and that the possibility of double-billing is avoided as a result of certain organizations being members of regional or international societies that are also affiliated to IBRO.
3) Consider if the present requirement for a minimum of 100 members is to be maintained as necessary for every organization that wishes to be affiliated to IBRO and vote as a member of the Governing Council.
4) Produce an updated list of IBRO Affiliated International, Regional and National Organizations. Such listing is particularly important now that the latter two categories of member organizations will be participating in the Regional Committee elections (see Article XXIII of the By-Laws).
5) Recommend measures that can facilitate the integration of the Affiliated Organizations into the activities of IBRO. It is hoped that this Committee will help IBRO make clear what is expected from the Affiliated Organizations and also what they can expect from being part of IBRO.
6) Advise IBRO on how to best develop the category now described in Article VII of the By-Laws now entitled "Supporting Members". This category was aimed at "commercial companies, foundations or other bodies who wish to contribute financially to the objectives of IBRO." It is also clear that partnerships in support of specific objectives and programmes will need to be facilitated by flexible arrangements between IBRO, non-affiliated organizations and private institutions with whom we share common interests.
7) Regularly advise the Executive Committee and the Governing Council on the acceptability of new applications for membership to IBRO or the need to reconsider existing memberships that no longer meet IBRO's standards.
As with all IBRO ad hoc committees, the mandate of the Committee on Membership and Partnerships lasts for three years. |
